Who should consider MitoSwab Testing?

Patients with the following symptoms or conditions may consider the MitoSwab Test: Clinical Symptoms involving more than three organs systems, Developmental Delay, Loss of skills, Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Muscle Weakness, Seizures, Peripheral Neuropathy, Hearing Loss, Blindness, Ophthalmoplegia, Stroke Like Symptoms, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Neurodevelopmental disease

  • Headache, Neuropsychiatric Symptoms, Cognitive dysfunction, Movement Difficulties, Heart Disease and Failure, Fatigue, Weakness, Liver or Kidney disease, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Severe constipation
  • Diabetes, Increased risk of Infection, Thyroid and/or Adrenal Dysfunction, Autonomic Dysfunction, Neuropsychological changes characterized by confusion, disorientation, and memory loss.

Sample Collection Kit includes:

  • Specimen: 4 Buccal Swab (Cheek Swabs)
  • Collection tube/Swab: Buccal Swab
  • Specimen Packaging: Clear plastic bag in the Uline envelope with frozen ice pack

  • Three Ice Packs: Ice packs need to be frozen prior to collection of swab

  • Specimen Requirement: Buccal Swabs placed in frozen ice packs placed in the given temperature-controlled U Line envelope
  • Rejection Criteria: Ice packs not Frozen or the swabs not frozen, Inadequate sample in the buccal swab
  • Time for Report: 2-3 weeks

    • Time for Report: 3-4 weeks
